Joshua 1:9
Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. (NIV)
Do you ever have moments in your life where things seem to
be upside down? In the past month, I
have so many downs. Losing my mom, my
dog, my washing machine, health issues, and I had a weird infection in my lung,
bleh! But with those downs, I have had
so many ups. I came to realize how much
support and love we are surrounded by every day. We may not see them until we are going through
struggles, but it’s definitely there.
Another thing I have learned is how much it means and how
important it is to be there for people who are going through tough times. What can you do to help someone who is
grieving, or just going through a rough patch in their life? Just a simple
gesture to show you care can mean so much.
The Lord sees our hard times, he knows what we are going
through. He has been there for me and my
family. As we walk with Him and lean on Him,
He will comfort us. He has given me
peace, not anguish, and hope, not anger with the loss of my mother. I do miss her, and I know the holidays aren’t
going to be the same without her smiling face.
But I do know this. I will see
her again, not for a while, but I will.
That gives me peace and joy to know where she is at this very moment.
So as we have ups and downs, we can lean on Him. He will be a light in the darkest of
valleys. He will be a soft blanket of
comfort on the coldest of days. He will
be a rock to stand on when you feel like you are sinking in the sand. It may not be through something, or someone we
expect, but he helps us even in the least expected place or individual.
Prayer time:
Jesus, my
friend, thank you for this day, though cold and blustery, we are thankful for
the warm homes we have. Thank you for always
being there for us. Use us Lord to help
those in need, and help us to be aware of those going through tough days. As we get ready for the holidays, help us to
be mindful of you, the reason we celebrate every year. All these things we pray Lord in your name.
AMEN
